Meeting 4/16

Permission Packets are due today. Parents should have read and signed the Basic Permission Slip agreement at the top. There are two Activities currently listed in the packet. If your daughter/family want to go, those must also be signed by today. If she does not plan to attend you can just write that in place of your signature. Thanks!

Families with outstanding cookie balances should be aware that Council will not release cookie prizes to your child until the balance is settled.

Girls should continue bringing a reusable water bottle to every meeting. This is for her to drink out of so parents do not have to provide drinks for meetings. Snacks, however, are always appreciated.

If your Scout has not already taken the Forever Green Pledge, please go here.

Some of our girls have chosen to work on the voluntary GSNETX Project Earth patch program. Projects must be completed and submitted online by Sunday, April 22. You must follow the online instructions, as troop leaders are unable to obtain the patches on your behalf. For more information about Project Earth, go here and follow the 5 steps listed.

Earth Day is this month. GSNETX is even hosting a booth at Earth Day Dallas- at which Troop 4816 will be volunteering! You can go here to read more. I will be making a post specifically for Earth Day Dallas after I have a headcount from our troop and have spoken with our GSNETX liaison.

In keeping with the "green" theme this month, tonight we will take a look at the GS Junior Journey book: Get Moving (part of the It's Your Planet-Love It! Journey series.) If your Scout would like her own copy, this book is available in the GS store for $7. We can certainly all work from the same book. The highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn is called the Bronze Award. The first step towards earning it is completing one of the Junior Girl Scout Journeys. Three patches are earned as you progress through a Journey book.
For more information about the Bronze Award, check the end of the Handbook section of your Junior "Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting."

Upcoming:
Sat 4/21 Earth Day Dallas
Mon 4/23 Leader's Day Celebration
Fri 4/27 SU SWAP Meet
Sat 4/28 Frisco Rough Riders Girl Scout Night
