Summer Reading

2012 Summer Reading Program - (June 1st – **August 20 or September 1st)

Listed below are the requirements to participate in the GSNETX summer 2012 reading program. By participating in this program girls will discover the world around them, connect with other cultures globally and expand their horizons.

The summer reading program is designed to encourage your Girl Scout to read. As with all activities, parents should be comfortable with the reading material their children choose.

Once girls have fulfilled the requirements, a patch may be purchased at any of our area Girl Scout shops.

Requirements

1. If you don’t have a library card, research how to get one and become a library card holder.

2. Read at least 10 books of your choice, selected by genre. You must select books from at least 7 different genre categories.

Biography or autobiography of a woman                      Traditional Literature
Realistic Fiction with a female character                      Historical Fiction
Mystery/Suspense                                                          Fantasy
Folk Tales or Fairy Tales                                               Science Fiction
Non-Fiction/informational                                             Poetry or rhyming

**3. Complete this form and turn it in to your troop leader by Monday Aug. 20 if you want her to pick up the patch from the shop. If you miss this deadline, you may go to the GS shop yourself until Sept. 1. This form is solely for Troop 4816 and is not necessary for patch pick up in the shop. (GoogleDocs was being uncooperative, so my form may look weird in the GoogleDocs viewer- but it should be fine for printing. You can choose to do a "print preview" if you are concerned about it.) 

Families that have outstanding cookie balances: Please turn in the remaining funds ASAP. Council will not release your child's cookie prizes until the debt has been settled. If you have questions, please call Mandy.
