This event includes dinner, dessert, and a patch. All girls in attendance will need to bring a minimum of 15 swaps- but she can make as many as she likes (hundreds, even!) Girls will leave with the same amount of swaps as they bring. There will be prizes for the Best Swap, and for Wackiest Swap Hat.
You must contact Lisa by phone by 6pm Friday March 23. You must register/pay $11 for your Scout by Friday March 23, Money is paid to the SU event registrars, not to the troop. They typically want one check with the total amount so we can figure that out after we know who wants to go. If you need Lisa's phone number, please call Mandy.

What are swaps? Swaps are the Girl Scout tradition of exchanging keepsakes at camping trips, events, and just about anywhere Girl Scouts gather together. SWAPs stands for "Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere" or "Shared With A Pal" or even "Sharing With A Purpose." Swaps are handmade pins, often proudly displayed on hats. They can also be hung from lanyards, key chains, back packs, or stored in a collector box.

S.W.A.P. NOTES
There is no S.W.A.P. theme, so the S.W.A.P.’s can be anything the girls want to make. Troops can make the S.W.A.P.’s together, where each girl in the troop has the same S.W.A.P., or each girl can make her own
S.W.A.P.’s. There is no maximum number of S.W.A.P.’s to make. There will be 93 Girl Scouts representing 16 troops will be attending the event. If you want to be sure each girl attending gets one of your troop’s S.W.A.P.’s, then you should make 93. As a minimum, I would say have each of your girls make at least 15 S.W.A.P.’s, this should guarantee that each girl will get a nice collection of 15 different S.W.A.P.’s to take home.

Two categories for Troop Prize – A prize for troops with total membership of less than 10 girls and a prize for troops with total membership of greater than 10 girls. Membership totals will be based upon the most recent SU 170 Registrar’s membership report.
S.W.A.P.S are usually, but not always, pinned onto a hat of some sort, thus the Craziest S.W.A.P. Hat prize. I know that some girls who have attended several years in a row have S.W.A.P. hats, bags and vests.
I will have place cards on the tables so you know where your troop is sitting for dinner and dessert.
While pizza is being served, our judge will go around to each table and look at the girls S.W.A.P.s; this is for the Best S.W.A.P. Prize. I’ll ask the girls to leave at least one of her S.W.A.P.’s out on the table for the judge to look at while dinner is being served. This way the judge will be sure and see all the S.W.A.P.’s at the event.
During the event, our judge will be keeping a look out for the Craziest S.W.A.P. Hat prize recipient.

This is a very low-key event, focused on raising money for Family Partnership as well as giving the girls an opportunity to get to know girls from other troops and share together.
The event will progress something like this:
6:30 – We will open with GS Promise then begin serving Pizza
7:00 – We will meet in the open area in front of the stage and swap S.W.A.P.’s – The girls are encouraged to chat and talk amongst themselves, talk about their S.W.A.P. with other girls. Why they chose that design, what it means to them, etc.
7:30 – We will start serving Ice Cream
8:00 – We will award prizes – Our judge will be Elizabeth Borrero our Council Representative from GSNETX.
8:15 – Time to Clean Up
I will be happy to answer any questions! Contact me at tracy.godwin@sbcglobal.net. Malette Reed will send a reminder out prior to the event.
