Leader's Day Celebration 4/23

Today we will have our Leader's Day party. Girls can celebrate by being friendly, considerate, caring, responsible, respectful, resourceful, and all those other great Girl Scout traits. Girls can also bring party favors to share if they so choose. I will be providing a special snack. Thanks to Kynleigh and Abbey's moms for providing drinks post-Easter. We will use the left-overs today.

Girls that participated in Project Earth (deadline 4/22) can bring their projects today if she would like to show it to the troop, or she can wait the 5/7 meeting. The first meeting of the month is when we officially do Show and Tell.

Two weeks ago I sent home Permission Packets. Some of the girls returned all or part of the packet last week.  Other girls still have theirs. Please check her bag and make sure she returns the rest (or all) of her Permission Packet today. I now have folders for them to go in.

How the Permission Packet Works:
The packet will stay with me until I need permission slips signed- at which point it will be sent home for your review. The first part of the packet is the Basic Permission Slip Agreement. Please read it over and sign it. Next are spaces for me to fill in as events come along. If your daughter plans to attend, sign and return. If she will not be attending, please write that on the signature line and return. The next part is the permission slip for medication which you can fill out on a case-by-case basis. Finally, there's a page for insurance and emergency contact information. The idea behind the packet is to keep all of us from repeatedly filling out the same forms. I will have all the information on hand. When I have to turn in information I can just copy it from your child's packet.

Badge Plans:
We are starting work on a Junior Journey book ("Get Moving!," available at the GS shop.) If your daughter would like her own copy it is $7. We can certainly all work from my copy. Completing a Journey is the first step to earning the Bronze Award- the highest award a Girl Scout Junior can earn. The next step is completing a Take Action Project. I am looking to see if our Adopt-a-Grandparent project will count towards this.

Adopt-a-Grandparent:
The girls are full of amazing ideas for Adopt-a-Grandparent. Girl Scouts is the world's largest leadership organization for girls, and I am excited to say many of our girls want to take leadership roles in the various aspects of this project. Adopt-a-Grandparent is a large scale project that will take us several months to complete. As we progress you can check the "Community" tab above or visit the A-a-G post.

Upcoming Events:
Tues 4/24 SU Meeting, not  a Troop event
Fri 4/27 SU SWAP Meet, 6:30-8:30pm. (RSVP list only)
Sat 4/28 Frisco Rough Riders Girl Scout Night (RSVP list only)

Families that have outstanding cookie balances: Please turn in the remaining funds ASAP. Council will not release your child's cookie prizes until the debt has been settled. If you have questions, please call Mandy.
