Troop Sleepover and Badge Workshop

Location: Camp Purple Pansy (a.k.a. Mandy's Apartment)

Drop Off: NOON Saturday, July 7
Please be on time, as the first part of our day will be a field trip and we must arrive on time. We will not have lunch together on either day. Please eat lunch before arriving. Girls should arrive in their troop t-shirts and vests. This will help us stay together on our field trip.

Pick Up: NOON on Sunday, July 8.
Please do not plan earlier pickups, as the children stay up very late. The troop will prepare a late breakfast.

Cost To You: $2 each to help cover the cost of food. (The girls voted on the cost.) She will need cash if she wants a small souvenir on the field trip.

Important Info: You must walk your child to my door and sign her permission slip. Girls without signed permission slips cannot attend this event- it is a violation of Girl Scout insurance rules. It is also important to note that families who have not settled outstanding cookie balances will not be receiving their cookie prizes. We will be doing Court of Awards and cookie prizes for everyone else Sunday morning before the girls go home.

Theme and Events: The surprise theme is...Camping! We will work on activities from the Camper badge- starting with a field trip to Bass Pro, where we will take a variety of outdoor education classes for children. Back at Camp Purple Pansy, the girls will prep their own dinners and learn how to make and use a cardboard box oven. Other activities will include a game of Piggly Wiggly, some in-the-dark-games like Burglar Alarm and a mysterious feel-it game, camp related crafts, and -of course- snacks and a movie. Be sure your daughter gets a good night's rest on Friday, as they will be up late into the night on Saturday!

Packing List- created by the girls:
pillow
sleeping bag or bed roll
bag or backpack that you can carry yourself- in which you put the rest of your stuff
pajamas
stuffed animal (important for every sleepover!)
toothbrush/tooth paste
hair brush/accessories
clothes for next day
$2 for troop, plus extra if you want a souvenir
wear your troop shirt and vest when you show up on Saturday

Behavior: We will be on a field trip for part of this event and proper Girl Scout behavior is expected. It is important that we are respectful to the staff, as well as our sister Girl Scouts and the other guests. During the sleepover the girls are allowed to enjoy themselves, but must still be respectful to others and follow any rules the leaders lay out. Girls that violate the behavior expectations for this event will have to call their parents- regardless of the time- to explain themselves, and possibly be asked to go home.

We've not had any major behavior problems in the past and I know the girls are looking forward to their sleepover. Lisa and I are really excited about this event! Yay!
